It is the year of the dragon, so let's read an epic story about a dragon and a group of hobbits and dwarves who go on an adventure together, hoping to reclaim what is rightfully theirs. I need you to volunteer as a group coordinator for your neighborhood and to help recruit five other members with whom to read and discuss the book.
My suggestion is to read two chapters per month, starting in April with group discussions twice per month. Here is the schedule for my group, which will meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
Day: Discussion Topic (Read this chapter before the meeting!)
April 3: Chapter 1 An unexpected party
April 17: Chapter 2 Roast Mutton
May 1: Chapter 3 A short rest
May 15: Chapter 4 Over hill and under hill
June 5: Chapter 5 Riddles in the dark
June 19: Chapter 6 Out of the frying pan and into the fire
July 3: Chapter 7 Queer lodgings
July 17: Chapter 8 Flies and spiders
August 7: Chapter 9 Barrels out of bond
August 21: Chapter 10 A warm welcome
September 4: Chapter 11 On the doorstep
September 18: Chapter 12 Inside information
October 2: Chapter 13 Not at home
October 16: Chapter 14 Fire and water
November 6: Chapter 15 The gathering clouds
November 20: Chapter 16 A thief in the night
December 4: Chapter 17 The clouds burst
December 18: Chapters 18-19 The return journey and The last stage
